Zoe Valdes ia an excellent writer and the book reflects very well what happened in Cuba after Fidel Castro took over the country. Because she was born after the Cuba before Castro some of the details of that period are a little bid wrong in the book but generally she really expose the despicable regime of the Castro brothers.

I LIKE READING ZOE VALDES SHE'S VERY CRUDE AND BLUNT BUT VERY REAL.I ADMIRE HER GUTS FOR WRITING THIS BOOK AND SINCE I WAS BORN IN 1937 AND THE FIFTIES WERE MY SWINGING YEARS IN CUBA I REMEMBER A LOT OF PEOPLE SHE MENTIONS, AND I AM IN COMPLETE ACCORD WITH HER ABOUT BATISTA IF HE WAS SOOOOOO BAD HOW COME FIDEL IS STILL ALIVE ?????IM ENJOYING READING THE BOOK AND IM GOING VERY SLOW SO I CAN MARK THE PASSAGES THAT CONFIRM WHAT SHE SAYS.MY FAMILY TOO WAS SEPARATED AND I WASNT WIYH MY FATHER WHEN HE DIED.
